Under the guidance of Louis Parkinson and our coaching team, our Catalyst Creatures Junior Teams have been training on Sundays at Harrowall for several years, developing young athletes from taking their first steps in competition climbing to winning National Championships.

Building on this success, we're going to be running a taster event for young climbers interested in joining our exisiting Catalyst Creatures Teams and two new teams launching in October.

 
We’re looking for climbers aged 10 - 18 to train at Harrowall on Saturdays in our new Creatures Academy and Creatures Performance teams, or at Harrowall on Sundays in our exisiting Creatures Teams. Team members will receive weekly in-person training sessions, team uniforms, personalised training plans and support at competition from our coaching team.

You don’t have to be an experienced climber to attend this taster event or to be chosen for the team - we base our selection not just on climbing ability, but on future potential, attitude to training, and teamwork... so just turn up, try hard, and have fun!

The timings of the day will be as follows:

10:00 - 10:30 - Warm-up consisting of cardio and coordination, dynamic stretching and easy climbing.

10:30 - 10:45 - On-the-wall dynamic movement drills.

10:45 - 11:45 - Competition simulation (Coaches will give mindset and tactics advice, but not reveal any beta for the climbs)

11:45 - 12:15 - Break for snacks and refreshment

12:15 - 13:15 - Projecting uncompleted climbs from the Competition Simulation (Coaches will discuss projecting process and share beta ideas)

13:15 - 13:30 - Coordination Challenges and Games

13:30 - 13:45 - Max-effort conditioning challenge

13:45 - 14:00 - Stretching and de-brief of session

If a climber is selected to join one of our teams following this Taster Event, membership to Creatures Academy is £120 and Creatures Performance is £150, each billed every 4 weeks. The new Creatures Performance Team will train from 12:00 - 14:30 and the Creatures Academy Team will train from 14:45 - 16:45 every Saturday starting in October, whereas our existing Creatures Performance and Academy teams (for which we have several open spaces) train on Sundays from 10:30 - 13:15 and 11:30 - 13:30 respectively.
